Free training for librarians and library employees on LinkedIn Learning |
The Indiana Library Passport, a creative digital experience that encourages everyone to visit libraries across the Hoosier state, is open to Indiana residents and outside visitors alike. The passport has more than 170 libraries and branches to explore.

Mobile library service returns to Morrisson-Reeves Library after 17-year hiatus |
For the first time in nearly two decades, mobile library service is returning to the roads of Wayne County. Morrisson-Reeves Library’s new book truck, dubbed the MRL Express, will begin its regular community book truck stops this month.
MRL Express, a custom-modified Ford F-350, will serve as a library on wheels, bringing books, technology and library services directly to residents across Wayne County. MRL Express marks the return of mobile library service to Wayne County. The previous mobile library, the Wayne County Bookmobile, ended service in 2009.
“Every time we talk about this project, someone shares a happy memory about visiting the old bookmobile,” said Josh Imhoff, engagement manager at the Morrisson-Reeves Library. “We’re bringing back that same bit of magic. There is something special about the library coming to you, and we can’t wait for our patrons to be able to experience that magic again.”
MRL Express will initially serve seven monthly stops across Wayne County, with stops in Richmond planned to start later in the year.
MRL Express was made possible through a $50,000 grant from the Wayne County Foundation, as well as endowment funds and tax revenue from the Wayne County Contractual Library.
The Morrisson-Reeves Library has served Richmond and the surrounding communities since 1864.

North Webster Community Public Library offering beginner technology classes |
The North Webster Community Public Library is hosting Beginner Tech Time sessions every Friday in March. The sessions offer community members a chance to get comfortable with their personal devices and to ask technology questions to library staff. Upcoming sessions will take place on Friday, March 13; Friday, March 20; and Friday, March 27. The sessions run from 1-2 p.m.
Beginner Tech Time is designed for anyone who needs help using a smartphone, tablet or laptop. Participants are encouraged to bring their own device along with questions, and a librarian will provide one-on-one assistance in a relaxed, supportive setting. Whether participants are learning basic navigation, troubleshooting an issue or exploring new features, staff will be available to help them at their own pace.
The classes are free and open to the public. A library card is not required to attend, but registration is requested to help staff plan for individual assistance. To sign up, call the library at 574-834-7122 or register online.

| Indiana Archives to offer records training |
On Friday, April 17, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., the Indiana Archives and Records Administration will offer a free records training session for members of county and local offices.
Session training topics include: information management, permanent and critical records, electronic records, digitization projects and destroying and transferring records. Attendees will also learn about the County Commission of Public Records. The training will include a question and answer session and one-on-one discussions.
The training is recommended for public library staff, elected officials, city and town officials, health department employees, planning and zoning department members, township trustees, k-12 public school staff and members of public safety agencies.
The session is eligible for two LEUs for Indiana library staff.
Those interested should RSVP via email or by calling 812-929-3882. The deadline to RSVP is Monday, April 13.

Keynote speaker set for Government Information Day 2026 |
Hugh Halpern, director of the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO), has been announced as the Government Information Day 2026 keynote speaker. Government Information Day (GID), a free biennial conference for librarians interested in learning about government resources and improving their information literacy, will be held on Friday, May 15, at the Indiana State Library. The conference, hosted by the State Library, serves as a networking opportunity for Indiana or government documents librarians.
As the GPO’s chief executive officer, Halpern is responsible for overseeing the publishing and printing information for the three branches of the federal government. The 28th person to lead GPO since the agency was created by Congress on March 4, 1861 - the same day Abraham Lincoln was inaugurated as the 16th President of the U.S. - Halpern was nominated by President Donald Trump on Oct. 17, 2019. The U.S. Senate confirmed him on Dec. 4, 2019.
Registration for GID26 will open in early April. Select conference sessions, including the keynote address, will be accessible virtually as well as in person. 'Teen Engagement Blueprint' webinar scheduled |
As part of its What's Up Wednesday series, the Indiana State Library will present "The Teen Engagement Blueprint" on Wednesday, April 8, from 10-11 a.m.
The free webinar will introduce practical, beginner-friendly steps for building effective teen outreach in libraries. Attendees will learn how to connect with schools, youth organizations and community partners to promote library services and create meaningful programs for teens. How to initiate partnerships, identify community needs and design outreach that meets teens where they are will also be discussed. Participants will leave with simple strategies and ready-to-use ideas needed to jump-start or strengthen their teen outreach efforts.
The webinar is eligible for one LEU for Indiana library staff.
